Our Mission
GEX Private Equity Academy was created to provide a practical, real-world private equity education focused on how deals actually get done in the lower middle market.
Most private equity courses focus on theory, large institutional transactions, or interview preparation. Our focus is different. We concentrate on the part of the market where fundamentals matter most, where resources are constrained, and where judgment and execution drive outcomes.
Our goal is to help students, entrepreneurs, investors, and independent sponsors develop the same analytical and decision-making skills used in real lower-middle-market private equity transactions.

The core of the curriculum is built around case studies inspired by real transactions executed by GEX Capital, a lower-middle-market-focused private equity firm.
These cases are drawn from actual deal work performed by:
- Private equity associates
- Investment interns
- Deal teams working on live transactions
Company names and certain deal terms are modified for confidentiality, but the economic logic, decision points, and tradeoffs remain intact. This gives learners exposure that closely mirrors the experience of working as a private equity associate or intern on real deals.
3. Deeper Insight — Not Introductory Finance
This program assumes learners already have a basic foundation in accounting and financial modeling, concepts that are widely covered elsewhere.
- That allows us to focus on:
- Judgment calls investors actually face
- How qualitative and quantitative factors interact
- Why two deals with similar numbers can lead to very different outcomes
This course is designed for people who are serious about private equity as a career path or who are already operating in the space.
4. Rigorous Assessment and Certification
The program includes challenging quizzes designed to mirror real-world decision-making, not memorization.

- The program culminates in a comprehensive final assessment consisting of a curated set of 80 complex questions
In total, participants complete approximately 150 challenging questions across the curriculum. Earning the certification signifies that the learner has successfully completed a rigorous, execution-focused private equity program, not a superficial overview.
